Earlier this week, I talked about What Causes Frizzy Hair, (click on the link to read it).
Today I’d like to talk to you about how to tame your frizzy hair without causing more damage.
- Wash your hair less frequently, and if possible brush your hair often to distribute the natural oils. If you have curly hair, like me, using a dry conditioner or oil if you brush it out would help keep the frizz tame without the huge ball of hair.
- Try not to touch your hair. Touching your hair strips hair of its natural oils. If you have to touch your hair, try to add a small amount of oil to your hands.
- Stop using DIY Coconut oil treatments for your hair, and stick to cooking with it. Coconut oil is hard to remove from your hair which can create buildup and smelly hair. When you have to get it out of your hair, you end up having to wash your hair a couple of times which honestly defeats the purpose of using coconut oil, to begin with. And, it can also build up in your pipes which is going to create a long-term problem. Instead, see step #4
- Invest in a really good hair oil like Surface Bassu Oil or L’Anza Keratin Healing Oil. Both are light, full of high-quality ingredients, and smell wonderful. Best of all, won’t build up in your hair.
